Industrial steam turbines are those used to drive compressors; speed control is generally achieved using the Woodward 505, as well as the TRICON TS3000. Now a question arises! 1. The adjustable speed is generally 75%-105% of the rated speed. Can it be understood that within this range of 75%-105% of the rated speed, the speed controller can control the hydraulic motor, which in turn adjusts the steam valve to control the rotation speed? 2. So, during low-speed warm-up when the speed is not within the adjustable range of 75%-105% of the rated speed, what controls the speed of the unit?
Regardless of the range, only the speed setting changes; the adjustment process remains the same.

1. The form of speed control adopted is the one selected in the initial design; nowadays, new installations generally use ITCC for centralized control; 2. 70–105% of the rated speed generally refers to the adjustable speed, that is, the lower and upper limits at which the speed can be set ; 3. During warm-up, if it is a TRICON system, the speed of the warm-up process is usually set to 500 for the first stage and 1500 for the second stage. The time taken is also predetermined, but it can be adjusted manually; however, the minimum time must be maintained ; I’m not sure if what I said is what’s needed; it’s just my personal opinion!
The speed range refers to the range of turbine speeds at which it can operate with high efficiency; in fact, the turbine can operate at various speeds under load
