Can everyone compare aspects such as geographical location, resource advantages, hardware and software, undergraduate education, graduate education, academic atmosphere, management, and employment?
China University of Petroleum (Beijing) and China University of Petroleum (East China) are one university
For undergraduate programs, the admission scores at China University of Petroleum (Beijing) are higher than those at universities in East China. When it comes to postgraduate and doctoral programs, Beijing is stronger. In terms of campus size and facilities, East China is superior to Beijing
East China is the original alma mater, while Beijing developed from its former branch campus. Thanks to Beijing’s advantageous geographical location, it has grown more rapidly, and its talent pool is stronger than that of East China.
That’s what everyone says; maybe so.
None of what was said above is correct; as an alumnus of Shida University, let me tell you. 1. Both East China and Beijing trace their origins to the Petroleum Institute, one of the eight institutions on Academy Road. During the Cultural Revolution, it was moved to Dongying; at the end of the 1980s, a graduate school was established in Beijing. Later on, both locations used the name Petroleum University to conduct their educational activities. At the beginning of the 21st century, the name of the university was changed to China University of Petroleum (). The name in parentheses is used to distinguish between the two institutions. Later, the campus in Dongying was moved to Qingdao; today, Huadong and Beijing are two separate universities, not just two campuses of the same university. 2. For undergraduate admissions, the admission scores in Beijing are indeed higher than those in East China; this is partly due to the prestige associated with the name Beijing. There are many more undergraduates in East China than in Beijing, as Beijing has had a high rate of students failing to meet their commitments over the years, which has damaged its reputation. Organizations in the oil industry tend to value undergraduates from East China more. However, students from both regions share the school motto of \"accumulating knowledge before applying it\", and they both have a diligent approach to studying and working. 3. There is no doubt that graduate programs in Beijing offer high quality, ample opportunities for international exchange, a broad range of perspectives, and teachers of higher caliber; those who disagree are welcome to challenge this claim. 4. Geographic location: Beijing is located far from the city center, and the same is true for East China. However, Beijing has fast subway services, so it’s still feasible to get to the city center in about an hour. In terms of the environment, it’s undoubtedly Qingdao – you’re right by the sea as soon as you exit the south gate; it’s very pleasant there. 5. Employment: Both schools are similar; it’s hard to say, it depends on the individual.
I’m from East China; the employment rate there is over 95%, so there’s not much difference. Anyway, there aren’t many good jobs available; most people end up working at refineries. A small portion went to engineering companies. The campuses in East China are newer than those in Beijing. Beijing is in the valleys. One is in the capital city, and the other is by the sea. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.
I’m also an alumnus of Shida University; I graduated in the class of 1978, back when Changping hadn’t been established yet.
Not necessarily. Many of the doctoral supervisors in East China were once students of doctoral supervisors in Beijing, but over the years those senior professors have mostly retired. Now both sides feel about the same. In Beijing, the high admission scores are due in large part to certain factors
First, let’s pay tribute to the several former alumni upstairs. I graduated from East China University. I saw some comments saying that the teachers at East China University were all former students of professors at Beijing’s universities, and I think that’s not quite right. Back then, the Beijing branch was developed on the basis of the university’s graduate school; some senior professors went to Beijing to pursue new opportunities, while others stayed in Dongying. Yet these experienced scholars and experts gradually became leaders in their field, working in the saline-alkali lands of Dongying and at Huiji Lake. Currently, the academic leaders in both regions are mostly former classmates and peers, who are students of those pioneers who made contributions to the development of the petroleum industry in earlier years.
