The design I’m using specifies mass purity; n-butane is chosen as the component at the top of the tower. However, the base components consist only of gaseous substances, with no oils present. The purity calculated in this way certainly isn’t what I need, as the denominator becomes smaller. I would appreciate some guidance from those who know more about this.

An analysis was conducted on the oil fed in; the following are the mass fractions: methane 0.043588, ethane 0.10311, propane 0.189578, isobutane 0.071314, n-butane 0.090271, n-pentane 0.00214, and oil 0.5.
