Everyone, I have a simple question. Why does scaling occur in the steam system of turbines, when water has already turned into vapor?
Because the steam is impure, containing calcium and magnesium ions, silica, etc. The pressure at the expansion end of the turbine decreases due to the presence of water, which leads to scaling. Therefore, desalination treatment is required.
The water quality is not up to standard; the hardness is still a bit high. Hardness refers to total calcium and total magnesium. Has it been softened twice or three times?
Theoretically, once it turns into steam, there should be no calcium or magnesium ions left. It should not scale. It also needs to be connected at the boiler. If the steam contains calcium and magnesium ions, then if my desalinated water is of good quality, either desalinated water or condensate can be used as the cooling water. Why does our factory say that using condensate water is better?
There is definitely ammonia in the steam that enters the turbine, and ammonia can also corrode the structure
Check the quality of the steam; if the steam is of poor quality, can the boiler still operate properly? Even if the water quality is poor, no structural issues will occur with the steam; investigate the reasons carefully
Inadequate technical management led to poor treatment of the deionized water, resulting in high salt content that was carried over into the steam
