Diesel hydrogenation density issue

May I ask, in the process of diesel hydrorefining, why does the density of diesel decrease after hydrogenation? I hope experienced folks can offer some guidance.
Large reaction depth? Low extraction volume?
The reaction proceeds to a significant depth, resulting in slight cleavage; large molecules break down into smaller ones, causing the density to decrease. Has there been any change in your cetane number?
