Here we often encounter situations where the salt content in crude oil is higher after purification than before it. We checked with the ladies in the laboratory, and they said there was no mistake; does anyone know what’s causing this?
Is it the analyst who takes the sample or the operator? Generally speaking, this kind of error can only occur if the wrong sample bottle is used for sampling

I have also encountered the situation described by the original poster; I call it \"inversion.\" Subjectively, the reason for this is believed to be a thick emulsion layer or a high water content after separation, which leads to fluctuations in the operation of the electrodesalination unit. Some of the highly saline emulsions end up mixing with the crude oil and being carried out of the electrodesalination tank. Such situations can also occur due to unstable electrodialysis conditions or poor crude oil properties. However, these situations actually conflict with the theory of material balance; therefore, judgment can only be based on the experience of supervisors... Some of the emulsions are demulsified, releasing excess water (which contains salts), but in actual tests it is not possible to detect the salt content within the emulsions.
Check the water injection properties! There may be an impact; additionally, if too much water is used, the mixing pressure drop becomes excessive, and salt and water fail to separate in time, resulting in an emulsion layer forming within the crude oil!
This situation does exist; I’ve encountered it many times. The analysis provided on the 7th floor seems quite reasonable, and I never understood what was going on before
This has happened before; have the electrodeionized water used for injection checked. We’ve encountered this issue before, and it was resolved after using deionized water once or twice
