Ah, process engineering and equipment management are related, but in chemical plants, with the same effort and skills, those in process engineering tend to fare better! ! ! ! ! ! !
Generally, the process has a wide width while the equipment has a narrow width. But sometimes it’s hard to say either; for example, among the four top leaders in our company (the general manager and the party secretary), three of them have a background in equipment-related fields.

Production still relies mainly on process expertise, with other specialties providing support; therefore, generally, those in leadership positions have backgrounds in process management~~
The equipment has high versatility, while the process is highly specialized. The major is relevant to the field, so skills in this area are highly valued and lead to rapid career advancement. The process has limitations, and its scope for employment is much narrower than that of equipment.
It really depends on the context. Process technology in chemical plants is the foundation, so it’s easy to improve; it’s not that the equipment is incapable of functioning. In your example, if equipment technicians go to a manufacturing plant, wouldn’t they also have great room for improvement?
Because if something goes wrong, one has to turn to the technical staff; equipment generally doesn’t malfunction. So the boss will assign the tasks to the process workers.
The main field for processes is chemical plants, while the main field for equipment is manufacturing plants; equipment offers much broader employment opportunities than processes. In manufacturing plants, not only chemical equipment is produced; equipment for other industries such as light industry, nuclear power, pharmaceuticals, electricity, and so on, as well as steel structures for construction machinery, can also be manufactured.
