What is the difference between magnetic flip plates and glass plates? In which operating conditions should magnetic flip plates be used?
The magnetic flap level gauge seems quite convenient, as it allows for reading from a distance.
My understanding isn’t deep enough, so I can only say briefly: The most basic requirement is that the magnetic float used for level measurement needs to work with liquids of a minimum density; I can’t give an exact figure without specific data, but it’s roughly around 450 g/cm3. There are also density difference requirements for measuring the level, and the reason is that there is a floating ball inside the magnetic float; the lower the density of the medium being measured, the higher the requirements for this floating ball – that’s roughly what it means. Furthermore, in terms of usage, if the material properties permit it, either method can be used; the direct reading method with magnetic floats is simpler. The temperature and pressure range tolerance of the magnetic float is higher than that of the glass plate. Magnetic floats can experience demagnetization. This is related to the quality of the magnets used by the manufacturer; the magnetic float can be equipped with a remote transmission function to output analog or digital signals.
To start with something accurate: when converting an on-site level gauge to a remote-transmission type, magnetic flip plates are used.
Glass plate level gauges are rarely used these days; they are prone to damage, require specific conditions in the installation environment, and magnetic flip-type level gauges are not expensive either these days

If the temperature is not particularly high, a magnetic flap type can be used. If used on a boiler, glass plates are more suitable. It depends on your specific operating conditions!
For conventional types with remote transmission, magnetic flip plates are commonly used; whereas in high-temperature and high-pressure applications, glass gauges are more frequently used, such as in boilers
Hydrocarbon media do not require glass plates. The high-pressure drum (100 BAR) does not use magnetic flip plates, but rather high-pressure glass panels (bull’s-eye type). Vaporized refrigerant: In the past, anti-fogging glass panels were used; products capable of operating at temperatures below -46°C are rare in China. Nowadays, magnetic flap types are also available (with vacuum-sealed housings), and imported products can operate at -196°C without the need for vacuum sealing. @jiaguoyun
