My four years in college passed in the blink of an eye, like time flowing by swiftly. Looking back at the path I have taken, those four years of university life brought together all kinds of experiences – sweetness, bitterness, pain, and joy. Those four years made me more mature. University life is a process of self-discipline. University life is wonderful yet short-lived. Looking back on those four sunny years, my mind is filled with various thoughts; there are regrets, but more importantly, there is satisfaction. (1) Freshman year: Confusion and exploration as a newcomer. In my freshman year, I entered university with joy; I didn’t think much about it, feeling only the relief that came after the immense pressure of the college entrance exams. However, I didn’t have much understanding or insight regarding university life or my major itself. In my first year, I didn’t study seriously nor was I good at preparing for university exams; as a result, I failed a course for the only time in college. But I was fairly honest and hardly ever skipped classes, so I entered my second year in an orderly manner. (II) Sophomore year: Clearing the clouds to see the sky. In sophomore year, the number of courses increases, and some students find them too boring to handle; of course, I too started to feel tired from attending classes, and would take short naps during them. There weren’t many extracurricular activities either. It was also during my second year of college that two computers were installed in the dormitory; we could finally use computers to do practical things. Computers were no longer just gaming devices – they also served as DVD players and learning tools. In short, by my sophomore year I was finally more mature than in my freshman year; I understood more things and had learned more as well. (III) In my junior year, I realized that the university library was the most beautiful place. I started skipping some classes during that year, but I didn’t go to internet cafes; instead, I would go to another classroom to read books borrowed from the library. Of course, it wasn’t novels (I had already caught up on those in my sophomore year); it was books on economics, psychology, management, literature, and so on. Throughout my junior year, I devoted myself to reading as much as possible, because I had read too few extracurricular books before entering university and knew very little. It’s sad when I think about it! The gap compared to the other people in the dormitory is huge. I started making up for it back in my sophomore year, but it was by reading novels; I hadn’t read Jin Yong’s novels at all before college, which made everyone laugh out loud! My junior year passed rather quickly; before I knew it, the summer break arrived. During that break, I decided to go to a big city to explore it, and I gained a lot of insights from that experience. I think it will be helpful for my life experiences! (IV) Senior year: confusion, bewilderment, or passion? In their senior year, the number of courses dropped significantly. Everyone was busy preparing for postgraduate exams, civil service exams, or looking for jobs. Unfortunately, the SARS virus spread throughout the country, causing widespread panic. Schools were closed, and those who tried to leave couldn’t return; some had to isolate themselves, climbing walls and breaking through doors to get in. The difficulties for us graduates are even greater; it’s already hard to find a job, and now with these natural disasters and human-made crises, we hope that \"winter\" will pass soon. We need a warm \"spring\", especially those of us who are about to graduate. At that time, everyone was really confused; there was no proper graduation ceremony, not even a group photo of the whole class – we just left in a hurry! Is it confusion, bewilderment, or passion? I think it’s the complex of these things. I learned a great deal at university, and I went through many things as well. What had the greatest impact on me was not the education at school or the teachings of my teachers, but rather my roommates in the dormitory. Because everyone in the dormitory has their own characteristics and abilities, I am happy to be in such a dormitory. Over the past four years, I have learned so much from life in school. In the dormitory, there are those who are good at logical thinking and have strong learning abilities; there are those who are mature and steady, those who are diligent and determined in their pursuit of knowledge, those who have read extensively and possess excellent writing skills, and those who think quickly, rationally, and with a distinct personality. And that’s how I kept growing over those four years; I’m lucky, I think. This is my university – four brief years, not particularly colorful, but I kept growing.
