What is primary desalination treatment?
Are you referring to the operating conditions of the power plant? Does it generally refer to ion exchange or reverse osmosis?
As water passes through the cation exchange resin, the cations in the water are absorbed by the resin, while the H+ ions on the resin can be exchanged into the water. It is the main component of the water treatment system. Currently, there are technologies such as ion exchange trees, reverse osmosis, and EDI.
As water passes through the cation exchange resin, the cations in the water, such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, etc., are absorbed by the resin. Meanwhile, the H+ ions that can be exchanged on the resin are released into the water, where they combine with the anions present to form corresponding inorganic acids. When water containing inorganic acids passes through an anion resin, the anions in the water are adsorbed by the resin, while the exchangeable ions OH- on the resin are displaced into the water, where they combine with H+ to form H2O. Water treated through a dual-bed system has its salts removed, and this is known as primary desalination.
Desalination is a key component of water treatment systems, primarily used to remove various inorganic salt ions from water. Currently, there are mainly three types of desalination technologies: traditional ion exchange technology, reverse osmosis technology, and EDI technology. Depending on the requirements for water usage, secondary desalination may be necessary for desalination processes; that is, primary desalination equipment is first used to remove most of the inorganic salt ions from the water, followed by further desalination of the raw water using secondary desalination methods.
When the raw water passes through a strong-acid cation exchanger and a strong-base anion exchange system, this is referred to as primary desalination; if it passes through these systems twice, it is called secondary desalination. If a mixed-bed exchanger is used, then that too is considered part of the primary desalination process
