On September 10, an expert group and relevant organizations, organized by the Water Resources Management and Dispatching Bureau of the Yellow River Water Resources Commission under the Ministry of Water Resources, conducted a review in Zhengzhou of the water resources assessment report for Sinopec Xinjiang Energy Chemical Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 8 billion cubic meters per year of coal-based natural gas. The meeting required the report preparers to make the necessary revisions in accordance with the experts’ feedback and submit the revised report as soon as possible. The Yellow River Water Resources Commission was asked to expedite the approval process in order to advance the construction projects in Zhundong, Xinjiang. The review of the water resources assessment report for Sinopec Xinjiang Energy Chemical’s 8 billion cubic meters per year coal-to-natural gas project was approved, which has injected great confidence and momentum into the natural gas demonstration projects led by Sinopec in Junggar as well as into Xinjiang’s energy transition strategy.
Even if it’s approved, Sinopec probably doesn’t have the funds to carry out this project.
I’m not sure about that. A company as large as Sinopec should be able to find the funds needed. Besides, it seems that they will still provide support in the field of coal chemical industry.
Under the current circumstances, it’s not that easy to obtain approval documents.
The workers just need to do their jobs properly; honestly, the decisions made by those in higher positions have nothing to do with them at all.
