Water injection in the cavitation protection tube of the water ring vacuum pump

The 2BV5110 water ring vacuum pump used in the workshop operates with circulating water as its working fluid. When the new pump was first installed, it produced very loud noise when reaching extreme vacuum levels; however, by slightly opening the cavitation protection valve on the pump head (which we call the vent valve), the noise level decreased significantly. A vacuum can be felt by placing one’s hand near that valve. But after the pump has been running for some time, water starts to flow out of the vent valve each time it is opened. I would like to know what could be the reason for this
When the pressure is high, the cavitation protection valve is activated; it discharges water outward； At a pressure of 100 mbar, it is turned on to introduce air inward in order to prevent cavitation.
