Why should new resins be pre-treated before use?

At the same time, practice has shown that treating new ion exchange resins can also improve their \"activability\" and chemical stability.

The new resin contains organic impurities such as small amounts of oligomers and monomers that did not participate in the polymerization reaction, as well as other inorganic impurities like iron, aluminum, and copper. When the resin comes into contact with water, acids, bases, or other solutions, the aforementioned soluble impurities dissolve into the solution and affect water quality; therefore, new resin must be pre-treated before use. Pre-treatment of the resin to convert it into the desired ionic form serves to activate the resin.
