I would like to ask about the alkali resistance of 254SMO I checked online and it seems that 254SMO has good acid resistance, but I’m not sure about its alkali resistance. Could everyone please recommend a few more materials with good alkali resistance for my reference? Thank you!

There are many types of alkaline media, and the processing conditions vary greatly; the information you have provided makes it impossible for me to assist you. Only after clarifying the detailed process parameters such as medium name, concentration, temperature, pressure, flow rate, etc., can a suitable material be recommended. @Yunsanapo, please help the original poster with some suggestions.
Oh! That’s right; we currently have a plate heat exchanger, with 254SMO being the material used for the plates. I’ve just graduated, so I’m not very familiar with the effects of this material. Our medium is the mother liquor derived from alumina; it’s a sodium aluminate solution, along with some silicates, sulfates, and certain organic substances. The temperature is around 60-100 degrees. Alternatively, could you explain me about 254SMO as well? Thank you! I knew nothing when I first entered the workforce!
It has poor alkali resistance; it is even worse than 310S. The high molybdenum content makes it prone to decarburization corrosion in alkaline environments. Hastelloy C series is similar as well. Thus, one thing overcomes another, one thing subdues another – this is the wonder of the art of corrosion.
