1: First, the backup pump should be activated. 2: If there is a prolonged outage and the backup pump cannot be started, the furnace should be shut down. Prevent dry burning of the furnace tubes. 3: If the pump cannot handle a high flow rate, the reboiling amount should be reduced.
When a diesel bottom pump experiences vacuum, it is first necessary to check whether there are any issues with the level indicator for light fractions. If this indicator is inaccurate, water may enter the distillation tower directly, resulting in vacuum. Additionally, if vacuum occurs during the process of switching pumps, it is likely that the pump has not been properly warmed up; in such cases, the outlet valve should be opened slightly first, and then fully opened after the pump has run for a certain period of time. I have never operated the reboiler for adjustment. Generally, pump cavitation occurs only for a short period of time, and it should not cause disruptions in the operation of the entire distillation column as a result of pump cavitation. If the reboiler is adjusted, the gas-liquid load throughout the column will change, which in turn affects product quality. It is recommended to seek the problem at its source unless it is absolutely necessary.
