Are there manufacturers that provide filters between the slag tank of the slag skimmer and the clean water tank? What is the mesh size of these filters? Will it get clogged?
I haven’t heard of this approach. If too much fine slag is being sent to the clean water tank, it might be better to delay the activation of the overflow valve between the slag tank and the clean water tank until after the slag is discharged using a lock-hopper. This would yield better results. Adding a filter is also an option, but the mesh size of the filter needs to be taken into consideration; otherwise, it’s difficult to ensure that the filter won’t get clogged. It’s recommended to start by testing with a larger mesh size to see how it works. First, use a sieve to filter out the coarse slag and determine the mesh size through which it can pass, then proceed to test with smaller mesh sizes.
Starting with the adjustment of the slag pool overflow valve, I personally believe that installing a filter screen is not very useful.
Some manufacturers now use filter nets of 4*30; give them a try, and if they don’t work, remove them
Multi-stage filtration can be used; if the particles in the filter residue are of uniform size, one stage is sufficient. If the particle sizes vary, 2-3 stages can be employed, with larger particles being filtered out in the earlier stages and smaller particles in the later stages
It’s not necessary; what’s important is that there be enough settling time after slag discharge. Additionally, it’s advisable to install a filter screen at the overflow opening from the slag water tank to the clean water tank. During slag discharge, if the liquid level in the slag tank is high, large pieces of slag might be carried into the clean water tank through this overflow opening (some facilities may not have such an overflow opening)
The idea of adding a filter screen is good. If the mesh size of the screen is too large, it won’t provide effective filtering; if it’s too small, it’s prone to clogging. It would also be advisable to install manual valves before and after the filter screen to facilitate its cleaning, but this seems impractical!
All relief valves open with a delay, and this timing can be adjusted
I’ve never heard of it. Generally, it’s possible to set the time at which the relief valve opens; giving more time for sedimentation will yield better results
What are your requirements for water quality? If the requirements are high, then the sieve pores need to be small; if they are too small, water won’t be able to flow through. If the pores are too large, the water quality may not meet your requirements, and I don’t think this approach is very feasible. This is just my humble opinion; please don’t take it seriously
