How should carbon steel used around pH 2 be protected against corrosion? There are also 5,000 ppm of chloride ions; is it sufficient to use fiberglass-reinforced plastic for corrosion protection with 3 layers of fabric and 4 coats of paint?
It’s not clear whether the poster is referring to storage tanks, pipelines, or other equipment, nor has the temperature been mentioned. For pipelines, plastic-lined pipes can be used, while for storage tanks, fiberglass-reinforced plastic can be employed. It would be best for the poster to specify the characteristics; if carbon steel pipes with 3 layers of coating and 4 layers of oil are used, it is not recommended
It’s a square-shaped storage tank, at atmospheric pressure and with an open top. The medium is acidic wastewater; hydrogen peroxide needs to be added to carry out Fenton oxidation. A mixer is required, and carbon steel is intended for corrosion protection – so I’m not sure which type of corrosion protection would be best
Our company uses Fenton oxidation as well, along with hydrogen peroxide treatment; we employ fiberglass tanks and stirrers for this process. The blade and shaft are covered together
