Issues with the flange gaskets of liquid oxygen pumps

Our company has an air separation unit with a capacity of over 10,000 units; the liquid oxygen pump installed in this unit suffered from problems due to the flange gaskets being damaged by low-temperature liquid oxygen during its initial operation period. The issue was resolved only after metal wound gaskets were used. For the liquid oxygen pump of the new air separation unit built by our company, with a capacity of over 30,000, the equipment used is an imported model, CRYOSTAR VP 8/270/7L-3, 5C/0 -CB-WB. The flange gaskets are also supplied as part of this set, but there is currently no information available regarding their specific material composition or low-temperature resistance properties. However, based on past operating experience, some have suggested replacing the flange gaskets with metal wound gaskets. Dear experts, do you have any good suggestions?

Replace the flange gasket with a metal wound gasket. That will work
Since the flange gaskets are also part of the set, especially in the case of imported equipment, the manufacturer should have taken this into account; therefore, replacement is not recommended. You can also inquire with the manufacturer about the gaskets. After replacing the gasket, there may be a risk of subsequent equipment failures. Do not replace it; if it breaks down, seek compensation from the manufacturer.
We are currently working through the Procurement Department to see if it’s possible to get in touch with the suppliers or manufacturers in order to inquire about the properties of the gaskets, and then decide whether to replace them or not – after all, we have lessons from the past to guide us.
It’s indeed better to follow the proper channels first, consult the manufacturer before making a decision.
Replace it directly; don’t hesitate. If you already have the experience, why hesitate?
The gaskets used with imported oxygen pumps are typically made of low-temperature SF material. Since the inlet filters need to be cleaned frequently during operation, the cost of inlet gaskets is relatively high. It is recommended to use wound gaskets made of 304 steel combined with expanded PTFE; several manufacturers already use such gaskets, and they meet the required standards! !
