Let’s discuss whether there are any requirements regarding the direction of the prime mover, the driven machine, and the instrument panel when aligning the three instruments on the unit For example, based on the driven machine, find the prime mover – should the meter be installed on the driven machine or on the prime mover? Should the gauge be installed on the prime mover or on the driven machine? Can it be installed on either side? Thank you
When it comes to installing a gauge, it is generally required that it be connected to the driven machine or the prime mover; in reality, whether the gauge is connected to the driven machine or the prime mover makes little difference, as it has little impact on the outcome. But the basic principle is to first locate and align the driven component, and then use that driven component to align the driving component. Therefore, mounting the gauge has no effect on the alignment result from the driven or driving side, but the adjustment must be made to the driving side. The prime mover mentioned here refers to the driving device, while the driven device refers to the equipment that is being driven.
The position where the gauge is placed affects the calculation results; generally, it is best to place it on the side that is not involved in adjustments. Adjust the motor; place the magnetic base on the pump, and adjust the pump so that it is mounted on the motor.

I’d like to ask gently: wouldn’t it be better to use a laser alignment tool for this? Also, is what is eliminated the axial movement of the driven equipment, or the movement of the motor?
