I would like to ask: what is the typical level of heavy metal content in regenerated catalysts used in catalytic units? In our facility, we keep the total amount of iron, nickel, vanadium, sodium, and calcium at no more than 20,000 PPM, with each individual element’s concentration not exceeding 5,000 PPM
How to control heavy metals in catalysts? Just use good raw materials, and if the level of heavy metals is high, replace the catalyst. Try adding a passivator to see if it works
There are essentially two methods of control: 1) controlling the heavy metal content in the raw materials, and 2) increasing the amount of catalyst used. Here, the levels of nickel and vanadium exceed 10,000 ppm, while the levels of iron and calcium are around 2,000 ppm
The iron content in our factory is no more than 8,000 ppm, with all other values kept below 5,000 ppm.
The nickel and vanadium levels here are basically below 5,000 PPM
For nickel, it’s fine to add a passivator; does a vanadium content of over 10,000 in your plant not affect the yield? Is the catalyst consumption per unit very high?
The gasoline yield is low, but that’s the quality of the feed oil we’re working with; there’s nothing we can do about it. We can only contact the catalyst manufacturer to ask them to adjust the formula, as the catalyst consumption per ton is quite high
The ability to adjust the main catalyst formula is limited, and the catalyst’s resistance to vanadium is still only at the conceptual stage; it relies primarily on the action of magnesium oxide. It would be better to use balance agents with good properties to replace it and remove the metals
The fastest solution to high levels of heavy metals in the raw materials is to accelerate catalyst replacement; other methods include the use of metal passivators and adjustments to the amount of dry gas injected, but these latter methods are less effective
Adjusting the catalyst formula and modifying the properties of the raw materials are options to consider when the previous methods do not yield satisfactory results
