If only rupture discs are used, they cannot be reused like safety valves – once a rupture disc fails, it must be replaced. Therefore, rupture discs and safety valves are used in series. Furthermore, in the case of some media that are quite viscous, it is easy for the valve core and seat of the safety valve to stick together, which affects the operating pressure; generally, two such valves are used in series.
