What is the impact of excessively high or low operating temperatures in the methanol extraction tower of an MTBE plant on extraction separation? @sunyiliang
A low temperature must be maintained inside the extraction tower, up to 40°C at most; if the temperature exceeds 45°C, the efficiency of extraction using water will decrease significantly. Tests showed that there is no difference in the extraction efficiency at 25°C and 40°C. Since 40°C is easily achievable in industry, this condition was chosen; a deviation of 2–3°C has little impact.
