Recently, a friend’s project site is working on a desulfurization and acid production project. In order to meet the deadline, the installation team used GMAW instead of manual arc welding during the construction of the furnace cylinder. It’s really hard to understand such an approach. Everyone, please share your opinions: 1. Is this feasible? 2. What are the potential risks or consequences? 3. How should it be handled? 4. How is welding quality and welding processes typically controlled?

Is it GMAW with solid wire or GMAW with flux-cored wire? If it is a cored wire, and there is a PQR, and that PQR has been approved by the owner’s engineer, then it can be used.
