Has anyone measured the pH values of lean methanol and rich methanol in the purification unit in their facility? What are the appropriate values for control? Can the pH value of purified methanol be controlled by the ammonia content in the reforming gas?

The ammonia entering the methanol washing unit is at the ppm level; what can it neutralize? Whether neutralization is needed to maintain the pH value depends on whether the medium will cause corrosion. The main issue is the severe acid corrosion in the methanol-water distillation process; it may be necessary to add alkali to maintain the pH level.
