Issues regarding sample collection in chemical plants during rainy weather

Does anyone have any good suggestions? Our product requires a moisture level of less than 100 ppm. Under normal conditions this is manageable, but during rainy weather the sampling errors become quite large. Although following standard procedures is important, it’s still difficult to prevent even a little rain from entering the sampling bottles. Our production process is continuous, so it’s not possible to wait several hours for the rain to stop before taking samples. Therefore, do anyone have any good suggestions to share? How do you handle this situation? ?
Use an umbrella or cover it with plastic! Xue Mei is a model oil producer promoted by Shengli Oilfield and Sinopec; on rainy days, she covers the sampling equipment with plastic sheeting.
Umbrellas aren’t very effective; I think an awning would be better
It’s really uncommon to have a canopy over the sampling points.
On rainy days, it is best to take samples in pairs: one person helps cover the area with plastic sheeting while the other has both hands free to collect the samples. Some devices also create temporary rain shelters, but these shelters are usually small, which in turn hinders sampling.
We’ve encountered this issue as well; the product requirement is below 25 ppm, but due to the continuous rainy weather lately, the level stays around 30! On-site sampling and replacement were carried out multiple times to rule out process-related causes! I forgot to mention that we take samples from sealed steel cylinders; it’s just that a little water got stuck on the mouth of the sampling bottle! Later, we requested that the water value of the product not be measured on rainy days! If it has to be done, use toilet paper to clean the sample thoroughly before taking it – clean it well to prepare the sample!
Building a rain shelter is the most effective and simplest method
It doesn’t have to be done by two people; multiple people can also collaborate on sampling. It’s essential to ensure the integrity of the sample! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
The extremely low moisture content is related to sampling, as well as air humidity and pressure; high standards require attention to all these aspects!!!
