World’s largest coal-water slurry gasification technology industrial demonstration unit passed on-site evaluation 2015-9-30 From September 23 to 26, 2015, the industrial facility for the “Construction and operation of an ultra-large-scale gasification technology demonstration unit capable of processing 3,000 tons of coal per day” – a project under the “863” program undertaken by Yanzhou Coal Industry Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical Co., Ltd. – passed a 72-hour continuous operation test organized by the Petrochemical Federation. Rongxin Chemical’s methanol plant is located in the Sanyangliang Industrial Park, Dalat Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. With a total investment of 5.11 billion yuan, it has an annual production capacity of 900,000 tons of methanol, and operations began in March 2010. The project utilizes Yankuang’s proprietary multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry pressurized gasification technology, as well as the methanol synthesis technology from the British company David Company. Each gasifier is capable of processing 3,000 tons of coal per day, and they operate in a 2-in-service-1-backup mode. Since the project began trial operation with feedstock injection in June 2014 and the two furnaces started operating stably in August, as of September 20, 2015, Rongxin Chemical’s gasification unit had accumulated 730 days of operation (based on each furnace) – totaling 17,300 hours – during which time 930,000 tons of methanol were produced. http://www.chinacoalchem.com/news.asp?id=60506
