The plant currently has two boiler feed water pumps, one in operation and one as a backup. One of the test pumps is working properly; when testing the other pump, if the outlet valve is fully open, the outlet pipeline does not vibrate. If the outlet valve is gradually closed, the pump starts to backflow; water flows out from the circulation pump, causing the outlet pipeline to vibrate, and the vibration is quite severe. May I ask everyone, what is the reason for this?
What the poster is asking is, does the other pump not exhibit this phenomenon? If so, it might be related to the layout of the pipelines on site. I’ve encountered the phenomenon you mentioned when trying pumps before as well. But it will be fine once things return to normal. The reason is that during pump testing, the outlet pipeline (downstream of the control valve) has no backpressure, and this is very important. Or if the pipeline (from the pump outlet to the control valve) is long, vibration can also be avoided; try changing the pipeline layout – if there is no vibration after making the change, then there is no problem.
