I am currently performing calculations regarding the discharge volume of the safety valves for LNG. According to HG20570, for tanks with low-temperature insulation, since the insulation material is not flame-resistant, a correction factor of 1 is used for the outer wall. However, in the API standards, I couldn’t find any similar provisions regarding a correction factor for the outer wall due to insulation materials. I was wondering whether it’s simply because I didn’t find such information or if there’s some other reason. I know that the insulation materials are referred to in that API table, but the table doesn’t mention any correction factor for the outer wall of insulating materials.

You can check; there’s a corresponding table in API520, which is much clearer than HG20570
