1. Clause 6.0.5-1 of the Oxygen Station Design Code states that the quantity of oxygen cylinders on site shall not exceed 1,700 cylinders per fire compartment. According to the explanation of the relevant provisions, there is a statement that is somewhat difficult to understand: each gas cylinder with a water capacity of 40L occupies an area of approximately 0.16 m2. However, even when including other auxiliary facilities, the diameter of a 40L gas cylinder is 239 mm, and the area occupied by one such cylinder is 0.04484 m2. Where does this value of 0.16 m2 come from? Typically, 16 bottles can be placed in 1 square meter! 2. As explained in this same provision, the calculation for 1,700 bottles – why is it necessary to multiply the area occupied by each bottle by 2 in this calculation? I’m not quite clear about the above issues; I’d appreciate some advice from those with more experience!
After recalculation, with an area of 0.16 m2, the radius of the bottle comes out to be around 225 mm. That can’t be right; was the diameter used instead of the radius? :L
