The necessity for chemical industry salespeople to build up a large number of clients: For sales, clients are what enable one to make a living; without clients, there are no sales, and without sales, there is no profit. And without profit, well, it’s time to leave. Chemical sales are different from other types of sales; customers in this sector are highly loyal, and the relationships between them are long-term and stable. Moreover, every chemical customer has at least two suppliers. Therefore, as a new supplier, it is extremely difficult to win over such customers. Even if you use all available sales strategies and devote every effort and time you have, it may still not be possible to gain their business. So, by accumulating a large number of potential customers and casting a wide net, fish might show up somewhere. Additionally, there’s the issue of mindset: focusing on just a few clients day after day can lead to anxiety and worry. A poor mindset directly affects your sales skills, creating a vicious cycle from which it’s difficult to escape. These potential customers can no longer be called potential customers. Also, customer loss is inevitable; there are many reasons for this – for example, a customer might stop using the materials you sell, or the payment terms might not be acceptable to them, or they might be taken away by someone else and you’re unable to compete with that person, and so on. If you already have few customers, losing one this month and another next month will force you to close down business. Without the addition of new customers, relying on past business will eventually lead to problems. Finally, since you know so many customers, you can offer lower prices to the customers of your competitors, or go on business trips to bother them – annoying your own customers and even more so your competitors, hehe, hehe
