There is wastewater generated by an existing harmless treatment company; the daily volume of this wastewater is around 10 cubic meters. The COD level is between 12,000 and 14,000 mg/L, while the ammonia nitrogen level ranges from 700 to 1,000 mg/L. The biochemical oxygen demand is relatively high, at around 0.5. The required standards for the treated wastewater are a COD level of 60 mg/L, ammonia nitrogen levels of 10 mg/L, and a BOD level of 20 mg/L. What treatment approach can be used to achieve these standards? If the anaerobic + aerobic + MBR approach is used, will ammonia nitrogen cause any problems? How low does it need to go to be able to enter the biochemical system? I’m thinking of using steam stripping to remove ammonia before proceeding with biological treatment – can steam be directly introduced into the water body? First use the physicochemical stripping process, and for the biochemical treatment, A/OJ combined with MBR will definitely work. Excessively high ammonia levels can affect the biochemical system; it is generally advisable to keep it below 40 mg/L. Introducing steam into the water body is acceptable.
Ammonia evaporation or stripping must be carried out first; otherwise, it will have an impact on the biological system.
