In the long term, oil and gas are in competitive relation with coal; coal chemical processes are lengthy and require a large amount of water, and there is an uneven distribution of coal mines and water resources. Apart from the import of methanol for production in coastal areas, what is everyone’s opinion on the future of coal-based olefins?
Based on the operational performance of China Coal’s MTO, it remains profitable. The price of MTP propylene is low, leaving no room for profit.
