May I ask, what is the difference between hydrogen-resistant steel and ordinary steel?

In terms of performance, the main difference lies in their resistance to hydrogen corrosion. However, the technical requirements in the manufacturing process differ greatly. Refer to the relevant standards and specifications for details.
Hydrogen-resistant steel is primarily made of low-carbon steel to prevent hydrogen embrittlement; the operating temperature also plays a role in this regard. The main characteristic of this steel is that, while controlling its manganese content, its sulfur and phosphorus levels are strictly regulated (P≤0.015, S≤0.004). To improve the properties of the steel, certain trace alloying elements are also added. The hardness of the steel plate is ≤200HB. Corresponding requirements are also set for the welds of pressure vessels manufactured from this steel: the sulfur content in these welds must be ≤0.010%, and the phosphorus content must be ≤0.020%. The hardness value at the welded joint is ≤200HB after SR treatment. This new steel grade is now widely used in the manufacture of pressure vessels.
