I recently talked with a friend who works in the field of iron oxide desulfurization agents, and we discussed how their clients now require them to recycle the used desulfurization agents. Previously, it was landfilled, but now landfilling is not allowed and recycling is necessary. What good methods do you have? I did some research, and the simplest method is to use it in the production of sulfuric acid. According to the relevant literature, the levels of impurities such as F and As are very low, even lower than those found in sulfur iron ore; therefore, there are no issues with using it in the sulfuric acid production process. But my friend said they wouldn’t even take it for the sulfuric acid factory. So here’s the question: desulfurizers contain about 30% sulfur, and they can help sulfuric acid plants reduce their costs – why isn’t this such a good thing being used? I wonder if anyone in the industry uses it? Are there any other issues that remain unresolved during use?
