For a reforming unit, what should it do if all the air cooling systems before the reforming product separation tank come to a stop?
If this happens, it constitutes a large-scale power outage, and it should basically be handled as an emergency shutdown; Simply put, when air cooling is shut down and the reaction products cannot be condensed, the first thing to be affected is the circulating hydrogen compressor; the amount of oil and gas at the inlet increases, the compressor’s load rises, and the reaction pressure rises rapidly. In such a situation, emergency venting is necessary to prevent pressure buildup in the system
It’s better to add a water cooling system for reliability
If only the air cooling systems stop operating, the reaction section should have its temperature and output reduced as quickly as possible to the lowest level; fire water should be supplied to the top of the air cooling systems for spraying in order to reduce the temperature, thereby preventing damage to the unit due to liquid entering the circulation pumps; Restore air cooling as soon as possible.
Emergency shutdown is required; otherwise, the cyclohydrogen compressor will be overloaded and the system will experience overpressure.
1. With all air cooling systems shut down, the first thing to consider is whether there is an electrical issue – perhaps they turned off the power in the wrong place. Therefore, contact the electrical team to resolve the fault and inform the dispatch team as well as the management. 2. If the problem cannot be resolved immediately, suspend operations urgently, reduce temperature and flow rates, and pay attention to the compressor’s load and operational stability

Generally, water cooling is used as a secondary safeguard after air cooling; if air cooling fails, the operation rate is reduced, and the performance of the turbine booster is monitored. Attention must be paid to the drainage from the booster, and the electrical team should be contacted promptly to address the air cooling issue, as reforming is crucial for the hydrogen supply throughout the refinery. Once it stops, it takes several days to get it running again – it’s not something that can be stopped simply by deciding to do so. If reforming stops, other units also have to cease operations for a few days, resulting in incalculable losses. If there’s an electrical issue that can’t be resolved promptly, the electric vehicle is ready to be used for testing; thank you
Shut down the reaction regeneration unit, cut off the reforming feed, divert the pre-hydrogenated refined oil to external discharge; once the air cooling system is back online, redirect the refined oil back to the reforming unit.
After feeding the reforming cut, does the four-in-one furnace need to be cooled down?
There is definitely overpressure; pressure needs to be relieved, and the emergency shutdown procedure for shutting down the cyclohydrogen compressor can be followed.
When the temperature drops, it cannot be handled within a certain period of time, so the furnace must be shut down immediately.
