I think temperature is less important; different materials have different Curie points, but they are all above 250 degrees at which point magnets can be used. The viscosity of crude oil is extremely high; it’s likely that the sound waves emitted are absorbed by the viscous liquid, making it impossible to detect any echoes. It is therefore impossible to calculate the liquid level. The viscosity requirement on the option template seems to be 30 mPa·s as the upper limit.
