Measurement issues of elbow flowmeters

I would like to ask: when using a bent-tube flowmeter to measure bidirectional flow, are two differential pressure transmitters required? Do the positive and negative sides of the two differential pressure transmitters need to be reversed? I don’t think it’s necessary; when there is two-way flow through the medium, the pressure difference should be such that the pressure is higher on the outside of the pipe and lower on the inside, right?
For two units, I think they need to be connected in reverse order.
I think it might be possible to do this: use one device with a range set to -10~10 KPa, and format the input signal at the receiving end as 0-10; while using another device with a range set to -10~0
