Have you ever worked on low-temperature ethylene and propylene storage tanks? What’s the minimum temperature? What’s the pressure? What is the volume? Thank you
Ethylene tank design temperature: -105, design pressure: atmospheric pressure
The ethylene storage tanks I have seen have a temperature of around -30°C and a pressure of around 2.0 MPa. The propylene storage tank is at room temperature with a pressure of around 2.0 MPa. In other words, ethylene is stored at low temperatures, while propylene is stored at normal temperature and pressure.
Agree with the third floor: our propylene is at room temperature, while ethylene is kept at around -35°C under pressure. The tanks at the LNG terminal next to us have only been cooled to -100°C.
Ethylene can be stored in three ways: fully frozen, semi-frozen, or under full pressure. Propylene is generally stored either fully frozen or under full pressure. Full freezing means low temperature at normal pressure; full pressure refers to normal temperature at low pressure. Semi-freezing involves low temperature with increased pressure. The decision mainly depends on the conditions upstream and downstream as well as economic considerations
