Dear sea friends, for lubricating oil media with a diameter of DN40 or less, what is the connection method for the valves? Flange connection? Socket welding? Butt welding? If any fellow travelers know, please explain. Thank you
Valves for small-diameter lubricating oil pipelines can be connected by socket welding or flanges; both methods are available.
I’ve seen it at lubricant manufacturers; just like in other operating conditions, there are various types of connections available, and ball valves with flange connections are quite commonly used
We should consider the valve type for this! It depends on whether it is a regular ball valve, globe valve, or self-acting pressure regulator – different valves require different approaches.
Threaded connections are used quite often, in situations where no pressure is involved
For ordinary media, these types of valves are mostly socket-type. However, lubricants are a special case; this was mentioned by Teacher Yue Jincai, but it was not explained what method should be used, which is unfortunate. Under normal circumstances, lubricating oil is definitely not used for socket fitting
It is best not to use socket welding for lubricating oils; we usually use butt welding or flange connections.
Socket welding cannot be used for lubrication oil pipelines
Flange connection, PTFE gasket. Since lubricant pipelines generally require pickling, connecting them by welding makes it difficult to disassemble and pickle them. The use of PTFE gaskets provides good sealing performance in lubrication systems; whereas the use of other types such as graphite or asbestos gaskets is likely to result in poor sealing.
