Who knows what proportion various types of ion-exchange membrane electrolyzers account for in the domestic market at present?
According to statistics from 2004, caustic soda produced by China’s IM process accounted for 50%. Recent caustic soda projects have all used the IM process; some companies that underwent upgrades also switched from the original diaphragm process to the IM process. At present, the proportion of caustic soda produced using the IM process is over 85%. The mercury-based method for producing caustic soda, which was used in the 1970s, is now only used in a few countries in Europe (this is thanks to the effective management and environmental controls in those countries); it is no longer used in any other part of the world.
What I want to know is regarding ion-exchange membrane electrolyzers: among the current installations with a capacity of over 37 million tons, what proportion does each company such as Asahi Kasei, Beihua Ji, Chlorine Engineering, and Woody hold?
