When testing the distillation range of National Standard 3 diesel, at 95% of the distillation process, a considerable amount of wax-like substance appeared at the outlet. The cold filter point of this oil is +3; the room temperature at that time was 16 degrees Celsius, while the temperature of the water tank was 22 degrees Celsius. I would like to ask the experts: what is the composition of this substance? What causes it? ?
The cooling water temperature of the condenser was too low; coupled with the high wax content in the sample, this led to the condensation and deposition of wax at the sample outlet. Raising the temperature of the coolant in the condenser appropriately can prevent this from happening.
The temperature of the cooling water tank is 22 degrees! !

These separated waxes are present in the heavy fractions; they are not those that separate when measuring the freezing point or cold filter point, but rather heavy substances with low freezing points present in the oil. Although the amount is small, the freezing point is indeed higher than that measured at the freezing point or cold filtration point.

It’s not that the oil is of poor quality; that’s a normal phenomenon. It’s the heavy waxes present in diesel – during distillation, these end up as heavy components, and this is something that inevitably occurs.
