Does a higher refractive index of a substance indicate a higher chromaticity?

The color of a substance is determined by its ability to absorb light, whereas the refractive index is an indicator of the speed at which light travels through that substance; these two properties are not necessarily related to each other. The color of a substance is produced by the interaction of light across the entire visible spectrum, whereas the refractive index within the visible light range is based on sodium light and refers to the interaction with monochromatic light. To put it simply, the common material with the highest refractive index is diamond, but diamonds can be colorless. A drop of ink in water already turns it black or gray, but its refractive index is not high.
There is no direct relationship between them; chromaticity refers to the selective absorption properties of visible light, while refractive index indicates the degree to which light’s speed decreases as it travels through a liquid. These two physical parameters are not directly related to each other.
