What is the difference between SIS and EIS in chemical process interlocks? One is a safety interlock system, and the other is an emergency interlock system – do the two overlap? Thank you
EIS is probably something that some people in China came up with arbitrarily; nowadays it’s all classified under the SIS safety instrument system. The interlock logic of your EIS is surely also implemented in the SIS.
EIS seems to be a combination of the so-called ESD and SIS; it’s basically the same thing, just expressed in different terms – the principle remains similar. If you understand SIS, then EIS is easy to understand as well
