For a project managed by a colleague, on the same pipeline two standard orifice plates are required to measure flow rates; the process parameters remain identical. When the process requirements were defined, only the maximum flow rates for the two measurement points differed, with one being around 8000 and the other around 10000. The feedback from the site at present is that the flow rates measured by the transmitters of these two standard orifice plates differ by as much as several thousand units. Why is that? Different values for the maximum flow rate can lead to slight variations in the calculation results, but how could it be as high as a few kilo?
As long as it is within the measurement range, it’s not a problem. The sources of error in the flow meter depend on proper installation, whether the parameters provided are accurate, and whether adequate maintenance has been carried out on site. Check it yourself; if there are still significant discrepancies, it’s best to contact the manufacturer for assistance.
The flow rates measured on the same pipeline can differ by as much as several thousand units. It’s likely that one of the orifice plates has failed; please have an instrumentation technician handle it. It could be a problem with the pressure sensing pipeline, or it could be an issue with the transmitter. Call the instrument technician and you’ll know.
Is there nothing between the two tables for the same pipeline? If so, please tell the truth so that everyone can make a judgment
