Connection method of exhaust gas to chimney pipeline

I have a question: if it is connected directly to the chimney (with the surrounding area sealed off using cement or something similar), it tends to get damaged as air gets in (due to negative pressure). If the flue is connected using a double-pipe arrangement similar to that of expansion joints, corrosion is more severe. How are everyone’s pipelines connected?
Ours goes in directly! There are no leaks either.
