How is the amount of catalyst to be added calculated based on the gauge reading?
Measure the height with a ruler; the height of new agent tanks is generally not checked
We used to measure the length every day, calculate the difference over two days, and also determine the weight of each meter of catalyst, and that’s how we figured it out. A radar detector has now been installed, so there’s no need for length measurements anymore
The cross-sectional area of the catalyst tank is determined from its internal diameter; the difference between the measurements taken twice gives the height, from which the volume of catalyst added can be calculated. Multiplying this volume by the density of the catalyst yields the amount of catalyst that was added. However, there are very few cases where this method is still necessary nowadays.
