Infrared analysis is used to analyze CO2, right? I just want to understand the working principle of nitrogen analyzers for argon.
It can detect more than N types, not just CO2
Generally, based on the plasma emission spectroscopy method, a high-frequency high-voltage power supply is used to ionize the gas, generating positively charged ions and free electrons and thus creating a plasma environment in which N2 molecules are ionized into atoms. Under the influence of an electric field, positively charged ions and free charges accelerate respectively toward the negative pole and the positive pole. Due to the collision, ions and electrons transfer their energy to the atoms, causing the gaseous atoms to be excited. When an atom is excited, its outer electrons undergo energy level transitions, and a characteristic spectrum is emitted as they return to the ground state. The concentration of trace nitrogen is analyzed by detecting the characteristic spectrum. There is also a radiation source that ionizes some of the gases passing through the unit. Argon and nitrogen, which are the components of gases, have different ionic activities. These differences can be measured electrically and used to determine the nitrogen content in the argon stream.
