While preparing for the auditor exam, I encountered a question: \"Under what circumstances are containers fitted with ear-type supports equipped with rigid rings?\" ” I have not come across ear-type supports with rigid rings in my work; can experts answer this question? Does anyone have the blueprints that they could share? Thank you!
Generally, heavy equipment or high-pressure vessels use ear-type supports with reinforcing rings.
Additional note: Ordinary equipment is relatively heavy; large-diameter thin-walled vessels or high-pressure vessels use ear-type supports with reinforcing rings.

Simply put, when the shell is thin, the local stress exerted by the ear mounts on the cylinder is excessive, which can easily lead to damage to the shell; in such cases, a rigid ring is needed to reduce this stress, functioning somewhat like a reinforcement ring.

According to the relevant standard (HG20582), a rigid ring refers to that complete steel ring located at the upper part of the support; the shims are still divided into 4 parts, meaning it is a single-ringed rigid ring.
