Could some expert please explain in detail the acceptable range and practical significance of various parameters related to the treatment of ash water in gasification furnaces? What are the consequences if these values are too high, and what are the consequences if they are too low?
At the very least, it is necessary to control the total alkalinity and total hardness; otherwise, scaling occurs easily in the system. Turbidity is also important, and the amounts of flocculants and dispersants added must be strictly controlled. High turbidity reduces the operational lifespan of the equipment and makes scaling more likely in the system.
What is the optimal range for controlling alkalinity and hardness? At what level does the risk of scaling occur? Are there any effective methods to address scaling once it has developed? Which is more meaningful, the measurement of suspended solids or turbidity in return water? Is it true that the lower the suspended solids and turbidity, the better?

Generally speaking, I have conducted experiments with professionals in water treatment; scaling occurs when the hardness level exceeds 200 mg/l. Therefore, it is best to keep the hardness level low. As for alkalinity, we usually maintain the pH of graywater between 7.5 and 9; if it goes any higher, scaling becomes severe in the system. It is possible to carry out some experimental tests to find the appropriate value.
