The flue diameter is 700 mm, and the insertion depth of the thermocouple is 300 mm; it is preferable to have it at the center, and 300 mm should be sufficient.
For a stove with a lining, it’s fine if it shows a little; there’s no need to be too strict about it.
It has no lining; it’s the exhaust fan outlet pipe, leading directly to the chimney.
By how much does the temperature generally differ if it’s not inserted at the center?
This will likely require experimentation, as there are too many influencing factors: flow rate, velocity, medium temperature range, and medium state
Just do some experiments and you’ll know.
In my opinion, at the outlet of a fan, the airflow is generally in a turbulent state and well mixed; therefore, the measurement values taken from a position near the center should be accurate, as long as it is not too close to the pipe wall. There is no need to consider other factors.
The flue should meet the same insertion depth requirements as ordinary process pipes. According to the SH/T 3521-2013 standard, the maximum insertion length for direct insertion is 320 mm. Additionally, under the new regulations, in order to prevent the medium from causing damage to the sleeve, it should not be inserted beyond 1/2 of that length; a range of 50–125 mm is sufficient to achieve accurate temperature measurement. It is generally designed to be around 1/3 these days, unless the client has specific requirements.
For thermocouples used to measure the fluid temperature at the center of a pipe, it is generally necessary to insert their sensing end into the center of the pipe~~ Inserting it 300 mm deep is sufficient~~
